Daniel,
The good news is that none of the development project's bills has so far gone unpaid, but the bad news is that we're over budget while being only halfway through the work. First of all, the cost for the outside consultants, whose advice regarding market trends was necessary, exceeded the original estimate by ninety-five hundred dollars. Then, the equipment needed to test the new product at each stage of development doubled in price, due to the specialized functions we had to have incorporated into it. And, unfortunately, the equipment is now too specialized to be of use for any later projects. However, I am in discussion with the manufacturer about changing the equipment, for a nominal fee, back to its original purpose at the conclusion of our project. Finally, overtime work required during the planning phase of the project set us back more than I realized at the time (see the attached file). Reply as soon as you're able, please.

Subject: Procedure Update
Kyle,
Given that we hired the most prestigious consulting firm in the city, the final cost for their assistance was worth it. For the remainder of the development period, the following will be put into effect. The project's funds will be increased to match whatever expenses are necessary to ensure its completion. You must now update me on the project weekly, however, not monthly as previously arranged. Inform the manufacturer that a decision is being made regarding the status of the equipment, as it's not yet clear how we might best utilize it. The overtime work should have been expected and there has been a separate account established to cover any further expenses in that area; simply forward the staff time sheets to accounting, when necessary.
