Dan and Betty go on to discuss the things they will need to get before they move in.

Dan: Right. I guess we’d better make an inventory of what we need then. We don’t want to miss this opportunity.
Betty: Did you check the hot water in the bathroom? Is there a heater?
Dan: I noticed there’s a solar heater on the roof, so hot water won’t be a problem. I also noticed three of the bedrooms have beds. Are they OK?
Betty: Yeah, they seem alright I had a quick look in the laundry. There’s a washing machine and it looks fairly new. But there’s no drier. Do we need one, do you think?
Dan: Nah. There’s a line in the garden and we can string one up in the garage if it rains much. Or we can take things to the coin laundry. I did see that there’s a gas cooker in the kitchen. But I didn’t see a refrigerator.
Betty: There would have to be a stove. It’s not legal to rent a property without one. And you’re right, there was no fridge. That’s something I know Mum and Dad had two, so maybe Kate can send one down as the place they’re moving to is much smaller than the old house.
Dan: There’s no real dining table and chairs either. Just that horrible little table that looks as if it belongs in the garden!
Betty: It probably does! So we need to get hold of one. We’ll try the recycle shops. And there’s enough lounge furniture. It’s a bit heavy and ugly looking, but it’s actually really comfortable. Just right for falling asleep in front of tele. We can just throw blankets or cheap covers over it to make it look good.
Dan: Maybe Kate can find some stuff your Mum and Dad don’t want.
Betty: Good idea. I’ll make a note. So I’ll phone her tonight and ask her to check all those things. What were they again? Table, chairs, blankets and covers for the lounge furniture, and there was something else, um ....
Dan: A fridge. See if they have a spare fridge she can send down. Actually, she could send anything that they don’t want that she thinks might be useful.
Betty: O.K. I’ll talk to her tonight. Then we can go round the recycle shops to pick up anything that she can’t get. When do you want to do that?
Dan: How about next Saturday morning?
Betty: Not the morning. I’ve got a netball game in the morning. I could do the afternoon, or one day the next week.
Dan: Saturday afternoon I play squash. How about next Tuesday or Wednesday?
Betty: Wednesday would be good for me. What time?
Dan: Say 10.
Betty: 10 is fine. Here I’ll write a list and cross off the things that Kate can get. Dining furniture, rugs, fridge (fade out)
