Well, uh, I think a friend is someone who stands by you no matter what. They know your great points, they know your bad points, uh, but through and through, they love you, and they're there for you when you need them … and vice versa. I think, a lot of times, people throw the word “friend” around too loosely. I think, just because I know you, it doesn't make you my friend. You're an acquaintance of mine. I know who you are. I've met you in the past. Maybe I've even gone to dinner with you. But you're not a friend. A friend is someone who's like your family. They're there for you no matter what.
I think a friend should be someone you can feel comfortable enough to tell them your personal things, uh, and share stories about your life, complaints; sometimes good situations that happen to you. Uh… One thing that comes to mind in particular is being able to share, uh, just your experiences with your boyfriend, for example, or if you're not getting along with your parents. I have a friend that I spend a lot of time with. Usually we get together at school and have lunch, or sometimes afterwards and have coffee. And she's someone I feel completely comfortable with, and gives me good advice and we also go shopping sometimes. So I think in general a friend is someone who is there for you to share good and bad times.
To me, a friend is someone who listens to me and understands me, uh, and is also there for me when I'm feeling bad. I… recently, I was very upset and a friend came over and brought me flowers. It was really thoughtful, and I knew she was there for me. Uh… Also, a friend is someone who I can goof off with. I like to just hang out with my friends and be myself, and they can be themselves, and we just have fun together.
